  • Is live play down due to virus?

This is not a post advocating how to react to the virus - I’m simply asking how has it affected crowds in your poker room? I haven’t been able to go in about two weeks but a friend indicated it’s been dead and the easy money has left. I’ve checked Bravo and the numbers seem to be down. What are you guys seeing in your area?

Yes, I've gotten several desperate emails from Vegas casinos I have rewards cards for regarding how they're addressing the issue. I've heard some pretty gross stories about behavior of unhygenic players in LA casinos too. I'm staying away for now. I'm not super concerned about myself, but I have higher risk members of my family that I don't want to be an infection vector for.

Agreed. I’m more scared of it chasing all the action away. Luckily I can play in PokerStars until things get back to normal.

My guess by looking at the Bravo app is that the number of tables running in Las Vegas is down 30-50%. Except for The Orleans, which seems just as busy as usual. Weird, since I’d think the typical Orleans poker player is in a high risk group and would stay away.

I was looking forward to putting in tons of volume in March, but have decided to stay away from the strip. I’m disappointed, but making good decisions is what we do here. I’ll study a ton and grind out a whole lot of hands on wsop.com and be ready to crush them upon my return.

Let us know what kind of action you’re getting there. I checked them on Bravo last night and I think they had 10 tables running so they clearly took a hit.

You got it, looks pretty bad on Bravo right now. Last week the room seemed to be as full as it usually is, but no amount of table hopping got me a good game at 2/5 or 1/2

Not catching a potentially deadly virus is +EV

I've only been to one of the local clubs in the past couple of weeks and it seems that turnout is down by maybe half.

I'm also a hospitality business owner and can definitely say that customer volume is way, way down the past couple of weeks. The fallout from this is going to ripple for a while across all hospitality businesses.

This is the perfect time to study hard, once the world gets a grip on this virus we all will be back crushing it!

At Borgata still, I have never seen it this empty on a weekend lol. That being said, there was still 10-12 1/2 and 6-8 2/5 games at peak although that didn’t last long. 4-5 2/5 games and 6-8 1/2 games pretty consistently 8pm-3am though. I had a great 2/5 table but the 1/2 tables definitely looked like they were missing a big chunk of the fish population

Good to see the room is still going. I’ve avoided playing live more for the fear that it would kill the action. I’m still going to stick online for a few weeks. Plenty of fish there.

AJH914 90% sure the room will be closed by tomorrow, the dealers were avoiding telling us what they’ve heard but that seems to be the writing on the wall

Still looking forward to the WSOP, but wonder what things will be like then.

Know a guy who is on Tenerife right now; not clear when he will get back Over Here.

Please do not play live poker right now. I am a physician and we must practice social distancing to stop the spread of the virus. This is for the welfare of the entire society.
