Question.. can you play online in the us? Some videos from 6 years ago sound like you can’t, then others sound like you can

Online poker is legal and running in NJ for sure and maybe 1 or 2 other states. It's also recently been legalized in a couple more states but they aren't running yet. My home state PA is one of them.

That's a tough question to answer... if you are trying to prepare live tournaments with online tournaments.

And games are played quite differently depending on the buy in.

I heard $109 is tougher than most live tournaments. Said the guy who made mtt course for upswing

From what I understand, the general consensus is that you can find an online game of similar difficulty to a live game by dividing the buy in of the live game by 10.

For example, a £1,000 buy in live tournament should be of a similar level to a £100 online tournament.

If you think about it , $109 on pokerstars has to be tougher than $1000 at your local casino ... it has to be.

The field has to be tougher ... many people multi-tabling ... so they aren't necessarily playing their A or B game ...

so it`s a tough field with people playing their B game In other words, their A game must be spectacular

Now I feel really stupid for picking the toughest field to play against .... think of it this way, pokerstars is like the olympics....

I always thought it was more like 4 times less.
      difficult to say.
Even the old 215 Sunday million had weak players at the beginning due to all the satelliters.

        ego in the game ...

Maybe better to spend time on live tales and table talk ...

The Sunday Million was always an exception to rule, for the very reason that you stated.

Ok so if you are in a state that doesn’t allow it is it a crime to play, or is it more so toward the operator I.e. pokerstars

If it is not allowed they give no pokerroom a License, so if you play on those sites you Need to trust the People behind the pokerroom and they are located in cayman Islands for instance , the big traditional pokerroms dont take the Risk and just dont let People from forbidden areas play

I would venture to say a daily 109 on pokerstars is much harder than 3500 Dollar wpt live Events especially on the east coast

I played a 1000 the other day. At the beginning stacks were 50k, blinds 100/200.
some players literally had no idea how to play deepstacked, losing stacks with not much.
I made it to day 2 but lost a 90BB pot when I had AA vs KK and he rivered the set. Sucks but I can see that level live is way easier than online at the beginning. Later I could understand how it might get tougher.
