  • Quiz 6 question

In quiz 6: Jonathan said that the connected middle cards should be better for the calling range of the SB and BB and not for the raising range.

Here are the ranges I put in Equilab:
    BU: 22+,A2s+,K2s+,Q4s+,J7s+,T7s+,96s+,86s+,75s+,64s+,5 4s,43s,A2o+,K7o+,Q8o+,J8o+,T7o+,97o+,87o,76o
    SB: 99-66,A9s-A8s,KTs-K9s,QTs+,JTs,T9s,KTo,QTo+
    BB: 99-33,KTs-K5s,Q7s+,J8s+,T8s+,A9o-A2o,KTo-K7o,Q8o+,J9o+,T9o

Why is this board better for the calling ranges?

Because your calling ranges are too tight. Maybe that might be what you want to call with and that is fine, but in reality, real villains will call with all the pairs, and alot of suited middle cards. Hands like 54s, 64s, 74s, 65s, 75s, 85s, 76s, 86s, 96s, and 78s are all in calling ranges. So are all the suited aces. A4s, A5s, A6s. Some of the looser calling stations will also have many of the unsuited combinations of all of the hands I just listed.

When they "perceive" your range, they will think high pairs and high cards. They will perceive that this flop is a miss for you unless you hold a pair 44+.

In addition, all of the 7x combos are in their range, 97, T7, A7.

Thank you. When I make the calling range wider, it makes more sense.

If I was in the BB, this is roughly what my range might look like.

In this hand I did not know stack sizes or antes. I assumed at least 50BBs deep and 10% antes.
